BYOD Course
Be Your Own Defender (BYOD) is our basic civilian training program, intended for anyone from teenagers to adults of any age. It is two to three hours in length, with a combination of classroom instruction and moderately physical skills and drills.
Each participant receives a nine-piece training kit, included with the class fee.
The kit provides everything needed for the class, including the actual Defender OC (pepper spray) device that will be carried on the street for personal protection once training is complete.
BYOD classes are taught by independent Instructors who are trained and certified by Armament Systems and Procedures (ASP). Instructors determine their own class fees—ASP does not receive any income from BYOD fees. All classes are taught precisely to ASP’s carefully-designed curriculum, to ASP’s high standards of instructional quality. And again, all students receive the Training Kit described above. The Kit alone has a value of over US $90.
